How My Alliance Kingdom Jumped

So I first started writing this before I kingdom hopped, but then I got busy and couldn’t finish it before the jump. Let me tell you, huuuuge blessing. Boy have I learned a thing or two. This will be a beneficial read no doubt.
I’m writing this article for those of you out there who have never tried jumping to take the wonder, but have been considering it.

How We Prepared

Note: We did something I’m going to call a “jump to grow” instead of a “jump to wonder”. I will explain…
Preparation: Preparation is absolutely essential to being successful in a new kingdom.

Our Preparation Requirements

  • Stronghold level 5 with all buildings, resource tiles, and research maxed out. Read here about how level up your hero 45 before jumping.
  • Minimum of 50k T1 troops for those planning on boosting to T2 in a few hours. For the rest, try to build up to 200k T1 troops. (These requirements can vary widely depending on what your immediate goal is upon jumping to the new kingdom. But, you definitely want some sort of troops for gathering). Yes building those troops takes forever at level 5 and you are a super easy target for kill events. Stay shielded, build hospitals, or get into a safe alliance. Preferably a safe alliance so you can build villas to increase training speed instead of hospitals.
  • For those boosting to only T2 level (these are approximate rss #s): 900k wood and stone, 800k food, 500k ore. Plus 31 hrs of speed up. But, more is always better. To research all T2 troops, you will need another 400k wood and stone, 500k food, 300k ore, and 860k silver. The three troops will take 41 hours of speed and the siege will take 66 hrs. Read here about how to not lose your resources when jumping.

Kingdom Selection Criteria

  • With contacts across multiple kingdoms we tried to figure out which alliances were planning on jumping. We did this to avoid getting stuck battling a super spender alliance like IXL, mainly a guy like CardRx who currently has 650million power alone. Therefore, we waited about 4 ½ hours once the new kingdoms popped up and watched who was entering them and battling for the wonder. This left us with only 1 ½ hours to attack the wonder, which is a very insufficient amount of time unless your whole alliance are spenders. This is another reason we did the “jump and grow” technique.
  • P.S. We (UKc) currently have the wonder after waiting the 3 days to attack it :)
  • When jumping, one member was selected to find a suitable spot for a hive. That member chose a spot 2 screen distances (or clicks) away from the forest. The area was near a lake with plenty of silver and near a ton of level 5 rss tiles. This was only a temporary location until we attacked the wonder, and now we may move elsewhere. A large hive—as opposed to pods—are essential in a “jump and grow”. It is the most effective way to share rss with each other and especially your spenders.

How To Grow Effectively

  • In my opinion in order to effectively contest the wonder, you need 5-10 spenders (dropping a few hundred to a few thousand dollars) to have as many T3 troops as possible. My alliance focused super hard to feed our spenders and got them to each having 50k + T3 troops in 3 days.
  • TROOPS are most important when attacking the wonder, as siege are only good for destroying traps. Pick to boost to either T2 or T3 and then build as many troops as you can while focusing your research in combat.
  • Share resources constantly. I cannot stress the importance of this. Remember this, “What you need more of, give away.” If you create an attitude of giving within your alliance, little time will be wasted waiting to gather. In 3 days, I personally shared 9.5 million resources.
  • Mash the help button. Every single mash helps. When you only have 3 days to prep for attacking the wonder, every minute counts.
  • AVOID wars. Every troop lost is a troop unable to reinforce or attack the wonder. But, if you do get in a war, get everyone possible in on it and smash the other alliance with huge numbers. Try to create as many unfair fights as possible and support your big boys.
  • Recruit, Recruit, Recruit. Check the leader boards and see what single players have the most power, then try to recruit or make allies with them.
  • Make allies, not enemies.

Story Time

A lot happened in those three days leading up to the wonder battle, each of our responses was critical to our success. First, I’m not quite sure how yet, but my leader was able to make allies with the 4th largest alliance of the time (BEV). I’m pretty sure this move was to ensure we didn’t get double or triple teamed when going for the wonder, and that we have someone good to back us up. I will find out more. Then, the 2
nd biggest alliance in the kingdom at the time (EGv) decided to start a war with us.They wanted to make sure we could not grow past them, but they failed. The key to our battle success was porting in pods around the enemy and rallying on them.Often, it’s very hard to win a head to head battle while staying far away. The closer you can get to the enemy and group together for quick rallies, the better. After winning that battle and taking around 100 million of resources from them (evil smile), they asked to be allies lol.Not sure how long it will last, but while currently attacking the wonder we don’t want any more enemies.Honestly, I think this is the reason we currently have the wonder, because right now that alliance has 20 mil more power than us, they are in first place power and we are in second. So, technically they would have been our enemies if we didn’t submit them (bigger evil smile).
In addition, from the first day in the new kingdom I contacted one of the immediate spenders asking if he was interested in joining our alliance. He was the only one I mailed, I’ll tell you why I chose him. One, he was in an alliance with no other big spenders, meaning he has little support. Two, his alliance (he is leader) only had 43 members, meaning he still doesn’t have much support or chance to win the wonder on his own. My alliance had nearly 70 members at the move, as we had contacts from all kingdoms join us. We were not full, but it allowed us to recruit members. Third, ambitious players like ambitious alliances. They respect and enjoy being asked to join or become an ally. Furthermore, if all that it took was that message of respect and lending a hand to keep him from naming us his primary targets then it’s worth it.
Finally, now that we had some powerful allies, a few very strong players, and a respectful leadership team, another top 10 alliance (NJV) wanted to merge with us. This got us few more players above a mil power just before the wonder opened. This alliance had poor leadership, causing a lot of the members to want to jump to our alliance. This resulted in a massive merger. Also, this alliance previously held the wonder. More details to come.
A very useful tactic my alliance leader used to gain blood allies and non-attack allies was promising their alliance a rotation at the wonder, as well as some good titles to help their alliance grow quicker.

Preparing For Attack

Quick Note: Not to bag on my alliance leaders AT ALL, but there was some pretty big miscommunication and confusion in this area. Three things need to be addressed: What are the goals for players at each different level/how can they best support the fight? What are the battle tactics, possible scenarios, and risk management? Who are our allies?
Question 1: What are the goals for players at each different level/ how can they best support the fight?
Everybody wants to capture the wonder. Everybody wants to be as useful as possible. Everybody is unsure of what to use their speed-ups on. The more confusion you have in an alliance, the less people can focus on growing. Understand though that this was the first time 95% of my alliance had attacked the wonder.

Levels 1-7

  • Build as many tier one troops as possible. Use these to farm as much as possible and assist your spenders.
  • Research your combat section out fully.
  • Craft a full set of gear optimized for combat.
  • Some people in my alliance decided to specialize in a certain troop type. They focused on mainly this troop (60%) and crafted items that favored mostly this troop type. This can be very useful if different members focus on different troop types. Furthermore, in order to declare they were specializing in a troop they would add a “T” after their name. For example, “Navigator T”. If your alliance is seriously considering enforcing this approach, I would suggest being more specific, like “Navigator TC”, for “Troop Cavalry”, etc. This way you make sure you have an even amount of specialization.
  • Most people can grow past 7 in 3 days.
Levels 8-14:
  • Build as close to 50k tier one troops before jumping.
  • After jumping, build as many tier two troops as possible. Use these to farm and assist your spenders, while still making sure you have resources to train, research, and build.
  • Depending on how you are matched up against other alliances currently in the kingdom will depend on how many speed ups you should use to train troops. If you are fairly equal in power with another alliance or you are not the top alliance, you will need lots of troops. If you are in the lead and have a lot of T3 players with T3 troops, you can build less troops and focus on leveling and continually maxing out your combat research.
  • A lot of spenders don’t start mass producing T3s until 12-24hrs before the wonder opens. This means a lot can change during that time, so make sure you save some speed up, in case you have to make any strategic changes.
  • Research out your combat skills as much as possible.
  • Sometimes it’s less expensive in speed-ups and resources to research an additional +2% attack for your hoplites than to actually build 2% more hoplites. Also, this is essentially like building troops. If you have +2% more attack, than it’s like having 2% more troops.
  • Craft a full set of gear. Stack your gear with gems. See notes from previous levels on this point.
  • Most people will be in this category.
Levels 15-21:
  • Get to SH 15 as fast as humanly possible. Don’t waste speed-ups on rss or too much on building. See my “golden tips” article on how to efficiently use speedups.
  • Be vocal about what you need and try to anticipate your needs. The only way your alliance can support you is if you is you are constantly (every few hours) telling them what you need. We would have our T3 booster send “all mails” of the exact number of rss needed so that everyone knew.
  • We also had our leaders checking in on them often to make sure they had everything and if, our leaders would send out all mails.
  • Once you hit 15, use speed-ups on building as many T3 troops as you can, as well as researching out combat.
  • Craft a full set of gear. Stack your gear with gems.
  • Usually only 3-5 people in your alliance will be in this category in the first 3 days of a new kingdom opening.
  • Be a leader. Not an asshole. The slowest way to reach 15 is be a needy jerk and try forcing people to give you their resources. Always make sure to ask politely, and ask for only extra resources that your teammates do not need right at the moment.
  • Protect your alliance. If they are being attacked you need to be ready to defend asap. Don’t make them feel like they have been helping you for no reason.
  • If they lose their troops, no one can help each other with rss, and no one will grow.
  • Try to recruit other big players. Big players want to play together because then they know they have a better chance of taking over the kingdom.
  • One—maximum two—people need to build a level 15 Hall of War for the initial rally to the wonder.
All Levels:
Create a kind and friendly atmosphere that people want to be a part of. Socialize and talk about the game and what’s going in your lives. Share tips and things that you’ve learned with each other. Teach the newer players the ropes.
The more powerful alliance does not always win. Sometimes the smarter alliance, the one with more allies, or the alliance with the best teamwork and communication can win a war.
Question 2: What are the battle tactics, possible scenarios, and backup?
We ATPed to the wonder approximately 15 minutes before it opened. I believe this time was chosen to allow enough time for everybody to teleport to the wonder as close as possible and begin rallying. We had the member with the highest level hall of war call the rally for everyone with T3s. That rally was only for those with T3s. Immediately after that rally took off, we had everyone else send their T2s to reinforce.
Now, I wish I could write that we faced this huge battle and that we just barely were able to take the wonder etc, etc. But, that would be a lie. We actually faced no opposition… by this time had we so many powerful allies and had taken so many resources from the most powerful alliance, that no one had the balls to challenge us.
As backup, we had two other medium sized alliances ready at a moment’s notice to help us boot other castles out of the forest. It was my alliance’s job to attack solely the wonder, and it was our sister alliance and another blood ally’s job to attack any other alliance that decided to contest us. Fortunately, it never came to this and we were able to take the wonder without losing any power.
Question 3: Who are our allies?
It’s extremely important to declare who your allies are before the big fight. You don’t want any of your members accidentally slaughtering an ally and creating an enemy.
Conclusion
I wish you all the best luck at taking the wonder, and I hope you able to prepare yourself much better now :)
Enjoy!
